About Linux
Why use Linux?
Linux-based operating systems are known for their stability, speed and resistance to computer viruses.
At the heart of each Linux operating system is the Linux kernel that allows applications, like web browsers and word processors, to work with the hardware. Examples of Linux operating systems (usually referred to as distributions) are Ubuntu and OpenSUSE.
Distributions differ according to the set of software they come with, the initial layout of the desktop, and so on.
