Privacy Policy
Introduction
Linuxlaptops2go.co.uk takes the privacy of its customers seriously. Please take a few moments to read and understand our Privacy Policy. It describes what information we collect and how use it. By using our website, you agree to the terms of the Policy.
Please note that our website contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites and advise that you check their privacy statements before allowing them to collect any personal information.
Personal Information Collected and How it is Used
Purchases
If you place an order with us, you will be directed to a secure third-party payment site (Google Checkout) where you will be asked to enter your name, address and payment details. The success or otherwise of the financial transaction is returned to us, but your payment card details are not collected or stored by us at any time. In order that we can record and arrange delivery of your order, Google Checkout passes your name and address to us. We do not share this information with any other third party except where it is necessary to complete your transaction, e.g. the delivery company, and in this case, do so with your consent. Unless you have chosen to keep your e-mail address confidential, Google Checkout also passes your e-mail address to us. This allows us to create a user account for you or matches your order to an account that you have previously registered with us.
Order History
A record of your order history is available for secure access under your registered user account on our website. Your name and address appear in the invoices under this option. No payment details are held here.
Compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998
The information we collect about you is limited to your name and address (and possibly e-mail address), and this is required for our core business purpose of processing accounts and records. The processing supports our primary activity of selling laptops pre-installed with Linux, and ensures that the relevant payments and deliveries take place.
Our disclosures, other than those made with your consent, are restricted to those we must make to third parties for the purposes of our accounts and records (for example to external auditors). We do not keep any personal information about you, as a previous or existing customer, after the relationship between us ends, unless and for so long as this is necessary for our accounts and records.
E-mails
Our e-marketing activities are regulated by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, and we do not wish to send you unwanted e-mails. Note that e-mails directly related to a transaction or action on our website are excluded from this legislation. We are also permitted by the legislation to send marketing e-mails to you where the content promotes products similar to any already purchased by you.
If you place an order with us, you can agree to receive e-marketing e-mails from us. To opt in, please check the “I want to receive promotional email from Orphix Limited” checkbox on the Google Checkout Order page. To opt out, please ensure this checkbox is unchecked. You can also unsubscribe by contacting us, and confirming the affected e-mail address, via the Email us menu option on our website.
